A day for pets and the people who love them, begins with the 1 block long "World's Shortest Pet
Parade" down the 500 block of Briggs Street. Following the parade at Coal Creek Park will be various dog competitions, contests, service dog
demonstrations, vendors and more.
Group Events Include:
- Parade - 1 block in length down the 500 block of Briggs beginning at Wells and Briggs
- Treat Catch - Dogs catch thrown treats from progressively further distance.
- Down/Stay - Dogs are placed on a down stay with heavy distractions. The last dog to break their stay wins. Handlers will
start 6 feet away from the dog and back away gradually.
Individual Events Include:
- Down on Command - The dog is called to "come" then "downed" during the return. The dog stopping
with his front toes nearest to the line without going over wins.
- 25-Yard Dash - Timed event from a standing start, the dog is timed on return to handler 25 yards away.
- Toy Catch - Dog is scored on how many toys they can catch in succession in 30 seconds. Dog must stay in circle 6 feet away from handler.
- Frisbee Throw & Catch - Timed event where dog earns points for successful catches based on distance. Bonus points are awarded if
all paws are off the ground during catch.
Audience Participation Events Include:
- Cutest Dog - With the audience’s help, judges will decide the winners.
- Best Dog Trick - With the audience’s help, judges will decide the winners.
- Dog/Owner Look-a-Like - With the audience’s help, judges will decide the winners.
