As written by Dale, Chili's human and handler, mid-weekend (February 15, 2009) about their OAJ and NF dual
title qualifies
We had a good day today. Received 3 Q's for our 3 runs. Not many chances of that happening again =)
Our first run of the day was Open JWW. We missed first place by 1.2 seconds, but settling for 2nd
out of 22 wasn't so bad. I've been struggling with a cold all weekend, and felt my timing wasn't at its best,
but Chili came thru great. This earned us our Open Jumpers title, and we've moved up to Ex A JWW for
tomorrow.
The next run was Ex A STD. We ran pretty well there too, thou I was over compensating at the tunnel
entrance after yesterday sending Chili into the wrong side so that part didn't look so smooth, but otherwise
Chili ran really well. We ended up in 5th place out of 32, just .33 seconds behind 4th.
Those darn Border Collie's are fast when they run clean.
The final run was Novice FAST. I had set the bar pretty high for myself after 2 straight runs of maximum
points and we had a break down today, and then I lost my plan, and wasn't thinking clearly enough. We still
ended up with a Q and 3rd place, but I could have easily salvaged 2nd place. Oh well,
it was still fun, and the start of the run was really nice. And, it was enough to earn us our Novice Fast
title.
One more day tomorrow. Only JWW and STD are offered, so it will be a little less hectic of a day.
